So l just purchased a 2009 Volkswagen beetle convertible with an auxiliary outlet on the console. l bought an input cord from RadioShack the other day, and although it fits perfectly and the music from my ipod plays, l hear a bunch of static in the background as well! Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Did l buy the wrong cord? ...It does not seem like it because it fits well.

It would be difficult to give u the perfect answer on this one. l assume the cord u bought looks like two headphone jacks on both ends. Here r a few things to try.

You now have two volume controls. If the ipod is set to low & u have to turn the radio way up it could degrade sound quality.

Make sure both ends of the cord r plugged in good. If one end is only halfway in u often can still hear the music, but hear static as well.

You might have bought a bad cable. You can listen while u bend the cable in different spots to see if the static changes. Also, spin the end while inserted into the aux jack & listen for changes. See if u can try the ipod/cable on something else, a boom box for example.

If nothing seems to work l would exchange the cable & try again before l took the car up to the dealership as it could be the cable that runs from the radio to the console or the radio itself.
