l have the 2008 VW Jetta with the 2.5 Inline 5 Motor. l know that l can get more than 170 out of the motor - l am just not sure what the best way to go about doing this is.

What do you recommend (with cost in mind) would be the best steps to take in modifying this car. l do not intend for it to be a racer, l would just like more accelleration power.

Any advise would greatly be appreciated.

cold air intake, free flowing exhaust, retune/flash your chip, new ignition, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, steeper gearing.

You might want to check the mkV forums on the vwvortex to see what others r doing. forums.vwvortex.com l know there r plenty of after market chips available from techtonics tuning, C2 motorsports, GIAC. But they require u to send out u ecu for the install. An intake & exhaust wo not really do a whole lot for ur car by themselves but will help get the most out of other modifications u do. There r turbo kits available for the 2.5 as well check out NGPRacing.com they just built a turbo rabbit. kinetic motorsports sells lots of turbo kits for volkswagens but they r expensive. Keep in mind that every aftermarket upgrade runs the risk of voiding ur warranty if something should go wrong. There r some VW dealers that r C2 motorsports authorized installers so getting an ecu flash through them will keep ur warranty intact.
