l have this car for a year and problems start happening now.First it was not starting with full charged battery so l changed the crank shaft sensor,water pump and timing belton 93k miles and after that the car was runing perfectly unttl now.its 97k miles on the car and the car start shutting off on me while driving and after that it was cranking but not starting.So l took it to mechanic and he said it still showing the crank sensor .he changed it but same problem ans today he said we try to replace cam and crank shaft sensor at the same time so he did

Now the car is runing fine but it not shifting the gear.
l am exhausted anybody help me
He is saying probably the transmission fluid is low.
i spent too much money on that car plz help

You did not state whether u took it to VW dealership mechanics. If u did fine. But, if the transmission fluid is low - it has nothing to do with the crankshaft sensor. It is a totally different problem in a different area. it is not up to the mechanic to check everything on ur car when u came in for one specific problem - engine not running.
Check ur transmission dip stick(if u have an automatic) It shows u what is what. Do it according to the owners manual. Do not overfill. You must really be low.
Exhaustion is no excuse. He is guessing because the car is with you, not with him. l have to side with him because he saw ur car last & is making an educated guess.
If u do not want to maintain ur car, then u deserve to walk(unless u do not maintain ur shoes) Same difference.

l do not think ur problem is fluid level. If it is stuck in first gear & it is automatic it is either electrical or internal failure of the transmission. You wo not be able to check the fluid level b/c these cars do not come with a dipstick, they must be checked with a computer. Is it possible that it is stuck in 2nd, not first? That would mean the trans. is in ''limp home'' mode which means the trans. computer knows there is a problem & limits the operation of the trans. to prevent damage. As far as ur mechanic goes, it sounds like he is throwing parts at a problem instead of diagnosing it. l would recommend going to a repair shop that specializes in European cars, the dealership is not always the best bet.
